Shockwave is an FDA approved noninvasive office-based procedure that is used to help treat musculoskeletal conditions.
How does it work?
Shockwave treatment uses pressure waves and acoustic signals to stimulate healing and decrease pain. These shockwaves stimulate the local metabolism, encourage healing processes, increase blood flow, and interfere with pain signals. It can be used to speed along the body's natural healing process in athletes and individuals of all ages.
How is the treatment applied/ given?
Treatment comprises a series of 4 doses consisting of 5 treatments at one-week intervals with each treatment taking 5 to 10 minutes. It is noninvasive treatment. No injections. No downtime.
What conditions can be treated with shockwave?
It can treat many acute and chronic musculoskeletal condition and such as plantar fasciitis, tendonitis such as Achilles tendonitis, sesamoiditis, Morton’s Neuromas, shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome), and stress fractures.
What are the risks and side effects?
Shockwave treatments are a safe and low risk procedure as there are very little side effects, except for temporary minor discomfort and potential residual pain following treatment that is temporary.
